ACID POLISHING

Crystal Traditions is one of the few companies in the United States capable of acid polishing glass and crystal. When crystal is cut, the cut appears to be dull and gray in color. In order to return the sparkle and luster to the crystal, the crystal is acid polished. To do this, crystal is submerged in a combination of acids for a period of time, depending on the quality of the crystal and the intricacy of the cuts. The acid polishes the crystal by removing a layer of crystal and thus returns the piece to its former glory. The piece is then thoroughly washed to remove any acid and inspected for flaws.

STONE WHEEL ENGRAVING

Stone Wheel Engraving has been used for many years to decorate beautiful crystal with detailed v-shaped or u-shaped grooved cuts. When polished, the grooves give a beautiful sparkly finish to the cuts and enhance the piece. Artisans take years to learn the techniques. Aidan Scully from County Cork, Ireland cuts giftware in the showroom and does custom pieces for individuals and companies.

SANDCARVING

Sandcarving is an engraving process used widely in decorations and architectural needs. A variety of engraving effects can be used on small pieces as well as large. This technique can be used on production pieces or one of a kind glassware.

GLASS BLOWING

The glass blower creates beautiful pieces by transforming molten glass into a work of art. Eric Cromwell creates many items from ornaments to modern art glass. Custom pieces can be made for individuals groups or companies.

PERSONALIZATION

For your giftware needs, glassware or crystal can be personalized to make that special gift. Names, monograms, logos, special sayings can be engraved.
