Aidan J. Scully was born in Crosshaven, County Cork, Ireland. After completing his formal education, he entered a four year apprenticeship under world-renown Edward J. Flavin, one of Waterford's Master Crystal Cutters and Designers, studing the art of crystal glass cutting. Then he entered another two year program to become a Master Crystal Glass Cutter and Designer and to learn varied styles of cutting such as Cameo, Brilliant, Venetian Mirror and Intaglio. From Cork, his next stop was Swansea Crystal in England and then he became the head-cutter for two years at Killamey Crystall in Ireland. Aidan has done commissioned pieces for Presidents Reagan and Clinton, John Glenn as well as Pope John Paul II.
